Tuition SPECIFIC FAQ
Do you offer needs-based scholarships?
We offer very modest scholarships upon request. The Alkion Tuition Adjustment Program makes awards depending upon the number of students who request tuition adjustment each year. Students will receive a $450 scholarship from the Alkion Scholarship Fund upon request. The tuition adjustment is for the current school year and is deducted from the student’s invoice. Students must receive a passing grade to be eligible to receive the tuition adjustment the following year.
Are there other types of financial aid available?
There are several other types of financial assistance available through the Association of Waldorf School of North America (AWSNA).
- Students can apply for a $900.00 standard loan from the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA). Additional discretionary funds might be available that will be distributed evenly among students who would like to receive more loan money. The loan will turn into a grant if the student works ¾ or full time at an AWSNA associated Waldorf School two years after graduation from Alkion. We make the link available to accepted students.
- Students who are currently teaching at AWSNA associated Waldorf Schools can apply for a standard $750.00 Currently Practicing Teacher (CPT) Grant through AWSNA.
Alkion makes the links to the AWSNA loans and grants available to accepted students. The hard and fast deadline to apply for these programs is August 25th. Alkion receives all applications from AWSNA and signs off on them.
Additionally, there is an Enska Diversity Scholarship available upon request, and teachers currently teaching at Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School are eligible for a Bulova/Gale scholarship. Please inquire during the application process.
Who is eligible for Alkion tuition assistance, grants and scholarships?
Any student admitted and enrolled in the Alkion Center Teacher Education program who requests assistance is eligible to apply.
